First week back in term 3 we were honoured to have dhiiyaan return to Carbrook Centre to share with us some First Nations cultural knowledge and dance. Uncle Larry taught song and dance to our staff and students who joined in. We learnt how important everyone's role is in community.

CARBROOK CENTRE'S OPEN DAY

Over the school holidays, Carbrook Centre opened wide our doors for the community to come and visit our school and experience our unique learning environments. Staff and students welcomed a wide variety of our Logan community including Councillor Miriam Stemp, members of the Logan Community Development Team, local business owners and prospective students and their families. It was a very encouraging day for all!

REDLAND BAY
MEN'S SHED

To finish off term 1, our students constructed bird houses which were provided by Redland Bay Men's shed. We are very thankful for this relationship and the way our community supports the staff and young people at Carbrook Centre. Thank you to our volunteer David who helped our students assemble the project to take home.

In the last week of Term 1, we had a visit from Larry and Luke from dhiiyaan who taught our staff and students an introduction to Indigenous art-based storytelling. Our students were led in creating an artwork telling the story of our local area. We look forward to another visit later in the year.

In Term 1, 2023 we had a visit from YouTuber 'Tingman'. Tingman shared with us about his passion for Rubik's cubes and being safe online. Tingman kindly donated a variety of cubes to our school. So, we thought we could reciprocate his kindness by presenting him with an opportunity to solve a cube on one of our horses!
